About LightSong
LightSong School of Shamanic Studies is dedicated to the cultivation of thriving, interlaced communities of well beings through the exploration and practice of shamanism and alternative energy medicine.
Founded in 1994 by healer and author Jan Engels-Smith, LightSong offers courses that blend core shamanism with contemporary principles of healing. These courses are designed to serve 21st Century shamans and seekers alike.
Shamanism is an ancient tradition that dates back tens of thousands of years, and has been practiced by most indigenous cultures of the world. Shamanism is based on the beliefs that all illnesses have a spiritual component that impacts the soul. The shamanic practitioner works with compassionate spirits to bring about healing of the soul. Once the soul is healed, other healings then manifest in the physical, emotional, and mental bodies, and then beyond to others, our community, and the Earth.
These fundamental, core shamanic beliefs are common to most indigenous cultures and form the basis for the teachings offered at LightSong. These beliefs are supported by universal spiritual truths that guide our lives, particularly as they relate to how spiritual energy works on the body, the mind, and the soul.
