Cutting the Cords of Negative Energy

Cutting the Cords of Negative Energy by Jan Engels-Smith

Human beings are primarily energy systems having a human experience.  Our energy systems are complex and reach far out of the body surrounding the body in fields of energy. These fields can be called auras, subtle body fields, or electromagnetic fields depending on which discipline you follow: metaphysics or science.  These fields of energy can extend out several feet from the body. There are also energy fields inside the body, which are called chakras.  Chakras are more like broadcasting towers and actually feed the subtle body fields around us.

My point in describing this is to help readers understand that energy is the predominate part of our make up and is a major component of our emotional stability, mental clarity, and spiritual awareness.

Our energy is not static but is extremely fluid.  It can be lost, hijacked, contaminated, or stolen.  It can also be refueled, ignited, heightened, attuned and returned.  Maintaining our energy fields and energy system is a major component of good health.  Unfortunately most people are unaware of this need and go through most of their life not sustaining or performing maintenance on their energy system.  The outcome from this lack of attention can present in emotional instability or complications, mental cloudiness or obsessive thinking, and spiritual stagnation.  In fact, all illness is caused by faulty energy frequencies in the body.

The emphasis is this article is on the “cording” of energy.   Every event that you encounter or interaction that you have results in a connection of your energy with this external experience.  These “cords” create the synergistic interchange that both affects the experience and, in response, alters your own being. The result may be minor (although cumulatively significant) or majorly impactful. For example, your memories are a result of the energy interaction you are experiencing with your environment.  Your memory is a result of synapses in the brain (energy currents) bringing a recall into focus.  Metaphysically, we can understand the cords are being “read” and a vague memory may achieve clarity—even into all of our other lifetimes. These connections may be very positive in providing constructive and useful benefits, but there are dangers as well. In the myriad of experiences in our current life combined with the incidents from many past lives, we can become severely entangled in cords, which can present in multiple ways.  We may not be able to let go of lost loves, wounds, or haunting memories. We have all experienced the mental conversation with ourselves after a difficult conversation where we imagine what we wish we had said and even, at times, invent a new conversation and believe a new truth that differs from what actually happened. This is an example of cords being energetically activated to keep this situation alive and present in our psyche.  These energetic connections can affect a person’s heart rate, pulse, and temperate as well as create an extreme emotional state, such as experiencing anger while remembering an uncomfortable incident. The incident may have happened years previously, but we still respond because the energy is still contained in our long-distance connection. Needless to say, these counterproductive cords can be very destructive for the individual and need to be disengaged or cut in order to find peace and wellbeing.

Cord cutting is part of the maintenance of the energy system.  Not all cords are negative or binding in nature.  Some cords are part of our energy imprint of our soul’s evolution through space and time. Children often cord with their parents and parents with their children.  If a situation feels unfamiliar or possibly scary, a young child will step between a parent’s legs.  Energetically a cord is coming from the root chakra of the parent that feels nurturing to the child, energetically informing him that he is safe. However, a negative entanglement may only be resolved by performing a cord cutting. In this act, intention will always be a key factor in finding the correct cords to cut.

Cords usually are connected to energy centers or chakras in the body. The presence of the cord in connection with a particular chakra will determine the emotional component of the cord.  Each chakra exchanges particular energy with our physical, emotional, and spiritual environment—such as love relationships in the heart chakra, loss of power in the solar plexus, or not feeling worthy in the root.  However, since no event is usually singular there can be many cords connecting for various reasons throughout an energy system. Fatigue or exhaustion, guilt, obsessive thinking, not being able to let go of an issue or person, or prolonged grief are a few examples of symptoms of needing a cord cutting.  In my personal view, one could do cord cuttings daily to relieve anxieties and to strip away unhealthy thoughts, just as one might take a daily shower to enter the day fresh and energized. Of course some cord cuttings require more extensive attention and effort.

There are many different methods that can be used in cord cutting. In my personal healing sessions with clients, I always incorporate a very specialized cord cutting—one that the spirits taught me and is very ceremonial in nature. This ritualistic severing of the cord can also be used to restore lost soul pieces.  Many of my clients have experienced amazing results where difficult issues fade away out of the conscious mind and even sometimes out of the memory.  I myself experienced this after I did a session on myself.  My father was a main perpetrator in my life and it seems most of my healing work for myself was about him.  Workshops, private sessions, readings, and self help classes I participated in always seemed to surface him as the source of pain that required my healing.  When the spirits taught me this particular cord cutting, I performed a full session on myself employing all of the ceremony and ritual that I would use for a client.   A few months later I was attending a healing training seminar with a friend and we were to bring up an event that had created an energetic wound.  My friend leaned over and whispered in my ear, “Are you going to work on your dad?”  Since at that moment he was the farthest thought from my mind, I then realized how effectively that ceremony had worked.  I could barely remember my issues with him; they were gone.   I had been truly freed.

In the case of cord cutting concerning family members or loved ones that you are still very involved with, please realize that the intention of cord cutting will remove the difficult situations not the person from your life.  It is always good practice to keep your most precious relationships clear of negative cords; this keeps the relationship healthy and vital.

I can not fully describe the previously mentioned ceremonial cord cutting in this brief article because I can’t explain its contents without readers being fully trained in shamanic energy medicine techniques; however, I can share a ceremony that is profound and I use in workshops with my students.  It is important to remember that it is your birthright to be happy, vital, joyful and sovereign.  Many people are not in those states of well-being because energetically they haven’t been taken care of or learned how to care for themselves as adults.  But happiness and well-being are the natural conditions of life.  Cutting cords and performing energetic clean up is natural and necessary.  Nature does it automatically and naturally.

My favorite example of this is from The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.  Tolle shares his observation that after two ducks get into a fight they separate and float off in opposite directions. Then they each flap their wings vigorously a few times to get rid of the surplus energy that built up during the fight. After flapping their wings they float on peacefully, as if nothing had happened. Dogs shake, ducks flap, and cords are cut automatically.  Humans seem to have lost this natural release function as the ego developed and ruled.  Now we need to incorporate ritual to obtain the same outcome.

Here is a basic technique:

  • State your intention to envision the cords that are binding you to your unhappiness.  You can change the intention with whichever words feel more fitting, i.e.  “My intention is to cut all the cords that are negatively binding me to unemployment.”  or “ My intention is to cut all the cords that are negatively binding me to unhappiness with my spouse.”
  • Envision yourself sitting in nature in a beautiful place.  The sun is shining and you feel safe, peaceful and full of grace.
A bright light appears and you realize that this light is creator, source or the divine.  It shines brightly on you and illuminates your chakras.
  • Starting at your feet, ask to see the cords that are coming off your foot that are binding you to your unhappiness.  Once the cord appears in your imagination follow it out and see what or who is attached to it. (This could be this lifetime or any other lifetime; don’t try to control this with what you know.)
  • Once the person, place or thing appears, envision that you are holding a great sword, laser, or some sort of cutting device.
State: “With the power of love and the empowerment of Source within me I cut this cord and I am free.”
  • At that moment cut the cord off of yourself and then make a second cut to remove the cord from whoever or whatever is attached to it.  Actually move your arm through space in a cutting motion.
  • The cord will fall to the ground and who or what it was attached to will float off untethered from the cord.
  • Go through each chakra: root, adnominal, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown.  You can also do your shoulders and hands before the crown.  The crown is always last.
  • Once this is complete ask the light of source to fill you completely.  Envision this and your true self appearing. Your true self is yourself that has no harm, wounds, or disappointments.  It is the version of you that is your perfect self.  Ask this true self to come and merge with you and source.  Once this happens the cord cutting is complete.
  • Envision yourself in this merged state gathering up the cords and envision a sacred fire burning.  Burn the cords in the fire.  Once the cords are burned, state, “It is finished” three times.  Say “Thank you” and come out of the visualization.

The power to be free lies within each of us and only requires a personal decision to accept the perfection of our true self in a perfect universe.

A Simple Process to Change Your Life

A Simple Process to Change Your Life by Jan Engels-Smith

Here is a simple process to change your life. Throughout the day have checkpoints about your thinking. Ask yourself the question. Does this thought make me feel good or does this thought make me feel bad? If it makes you feel bad quit thinking it; if it makes you feel good, have at it and enjoy your process.

Every one of us has opinions about many things. Opinions stimulate an internal emotional response and offer a vibrational frequency that resonates throughout the universe and every opinion is a point of attraction that attracts other like frequencies. Before offering an opinion or even pondering one, consider the quality of your view. Will this opinion help or hinder your overall well being?

There are two parts of you. Your egoic wounded self and your true self. Your true self knows no wound, only unconditional love. Each day ask yourself to embody more of your true self than your egoic wounded self.

Sometimes it is hard to discern whether you are thinking about that which you desire or thinking about what you don’t desire. We often think about why a problem is a problem instead of a solution to the problem. Focusing on just the problem can increase frustration, anger, or helplessness—all negative emotions that attract more negativity. On the other hand, considering a resolution to a problem generates feelings of hope, harmony, and peace—positive emotions that send out positive vibrations that promote greater concord and amity. Ask yourself what feelings you seek in the solution that you need and then try to find those feelings in other areas of your life. Where have you found your greatest harmony with the universe and when have you felt the most confident in your personal power? As soon as you start replicating the feelings you had in these circumstances then you will start attracting more of this positive energy, which usually opens the door to the solution that you seek.

To become aware of “your point of attraction” will have tremendous value in creating the type of life that you desire. Your point of attraction is determined by your feelings. Points of attraction can be created by either deliberate action or by subconscious thoughts. Deliberate means that you are consciously paying attention to your feelings and what you are attracting to yourself. Not being deliberately conscious of your feelings may result in your subconscious attracting feelings from a wounded past or other previous negative experience. This mental inaction might lead you to think that bad things just happen to you naturally and that you do not have a role to play in determining your situation. Instead, you must realize that you are a vibrational being that creates realities through the energies that you project from yourself and the corresponding dynamisms that you attract by these projections.

What you think and what you feel will determine what you attract in each moment. Too simple you say? Ask yourself, how happy can I be today? You might be surprised how one happy or pleasant thought can course through your body and multiply the positive energies of contentment, joy, or even ecstasy.

Try this exercise. Before you drink a glass of water, hold the glass between your hands and think of positive words you would like to imbue into the water. The water absorbs these energies. When you drink the newly imbued water you are letting that positive energy flow throughout your body, into every cell, and into your mind. Your body is about 65-85% water and the molecules of the water that you have imbued with positive energies will permeate all the cells of your body and alter your state of being.

When you wake in the morning—before anything else—set a quick intention. Mine is: I love my life. This sets the tone for the entire day.

Daydreaming is a wonderful tool of creation. Pause throughout the day and daydream about what you enjoy. Not what you want, but what you enjoy. This wonderful activity has tremendous value in your well being.

Quantum physics tells us that when you observe an experiment you change the outcome of the experiment because you have observed it. If a scientist has an opinion about what he or she is observing, the results can be affected by the attitude of the observer. This breakthrough in science represents what metaphysics has been declaring for decades. If you observe your thoughts (which is the same as observing an experiment) you can automatically change the outcome of events in a very deliberate way.

We can be very influenced by the media or the collective mass consciousness. However you always have ultimate control. It is your birthright. If you don’t like what the media or the mass consciousness dictates, don’t accept it, and create your own reality through deliberate choice. This is not done by focusing on the negative quality of the existing reality but by creating positive thoughts about around the possible good outcomes that can replace the negativity of inevitable catastrophe and hopelessness. We all saw in the recent terrorist attacks in Paris a startling difference in the pain of the immediate tragedy and the subsequent outpouring of love and hope that emanated from the masses that gathered to celebrate life, not death. People were drawn together by a positive energy to affirm what is good in our relationships, not in the isolation of despair.

You get to choose what you want for yourself today—what thoughts you want to think and what feelings you want to feel.

If there is a person in your life who pushes your buttons, spend some time today sending him or her your love and blessings. Don’t try to justify why they don’t deserve your love or blessings; that just adds to the problem. Just express your best self.   You will feel an immediate relief.

Do you BELIEVE that you can have your heart’s desire or whatever is on your manifestation list? If you do not, then the “do not” energy is your primary broadcast. It will cancel out any prayer, wish, or pleading that you project. It is easy to change a “do not” vibration by moving into appreciation. Appreciate what you “DO” have and what has already manifested in your life. This will get your energy broadcast in a good place.

There is a paradox that I try to remember whenever I struggle with a situation. When I surrender and let go of the control that I try to exercise over the situation, I allow the magnificence that surrounds me the opportunity to infiltrate my awareness. It is easy to feel good when things are comfortable and going well. However, it is in life’s struggles that we find the greatest opportunities for growth and evolution of our consciousness. Notice where you struggle and what opportunities the struggles present.

The most powerful part of the human body is the heart. Not the mind, but the heart. Open your heart and notice how it feels.

Do you ever have knee jerk responses to situations or people? Knee jerk responses are because you are in a habit of thinking, feeling and responding a particular way. You can prevent conditioned negative responses through the practice of deliberate feel good exercise. The more you practice feeling good, the more the feel-good response will imbue your being. In time, your automatic reaction to anything will be positive, uplifting and loving. I have developed a discipline that I call the feel good challenge. It is something that I practice daily and you can find the entire process on my web site. Here is a sampling of a few of the challenges:

  1. Complaining is an energy that causes more problems. Some people are unaware of how much they complain. Some people think that the complaining will actually change a situation. Complaining is a low frequency energy that will actually cause your body to ache, your pocketbook to drain, and your relationships to be strained. Instead relook at any situation that you feel upset about and try to reframe it. If that seems too hard to do, decide to focus on a few aspects of your life where you can feel appreciation.

What are 5 FEELINGS you choose to feel today that will invoke appreciation

Here are mine: Potential, Choice, Inspired, Motivated, Bright

  1. A major part of life is managing relationships. Even if you are not partnered you are in relationships. You are in relationship to others, relationship to the earth, relationship to your body, and relationship to the divine. How you manage these relationships will indicate where you are in balance or not in balance. To ascend into higher dimensions of thought and well being all these relationships need to be healthy. They become healthy through positive attitude and feelings.

What are 5 feeling words you can bring to your relationships today?

Here are mine: Appreciation, Awestruck, Thankfulness, Forgiveness, Humility

  1. Be curious and expect miracles. Curiosity allows the mind to have a certain amount of freedom. This raises your vibration. Curiosity is a good thing. Anything that raises your vibration is a good thing. Be curious, expect the best, and enjoy.

What are 5 FEELINGS you choose to feel today that will invoke curiosity in your life?

Here are mine: Wonderment, Openness, Expansion, Newness, Inventiveness

  1. Through the Laws of Creation you have created yourself. Your core is divine and magnificent. If you have created a lesser version of that to show to the world then you can recreate that version to match your core. The choice is always yours. You create with words, thoughts and feelings. Celebrate yourself!

What are 5 FEELINGS you choose to feel today that expresses celebratory words for life and the version of yourself you wish to present to the world?

Here are mine: Free, Excited, Full of potential, Magnificent, Exhilarated

  1. The Laws of Creation tell us that your vibrational broadcast will equal how you feel and thus how you create. You determine your creation right NOW by how you feel. If you modify your feelings you transform your creation. What do you want to create today?

What are 5 FEELINGS you choose to feel today that will support what you wish to create for yourself?

Here are mine: Love, Equality, Prosperity, Happiness, Connection

Climate Change

Climate Change by Jan Engels-Smith

This article is a continuation of last month’s article and the information that poured into me at our camp during LightSong’s 30th practicum. The focus for this article is the teaching that there is always a bigger picture occurring energetically that is often divine in character.  This bigger picture can be for every event that takes place, however that can present overwhelming challenges to try and explain so I will choose a couple topics to flesh out that came through at the practicum. As a teaching tool I would like you to image events, lifetimes, or issues, as a series of concentric circles.  The center nucleus being the presenting issue that has taken place.  Each concentric ring extending out from the center is a “different and more aware perception” of what the issue is actually about.  The energy moves away from the presenting facts and actually moves towards a more spiritual perspective.  The furthest circles may not address the issue at all but encompass an “understanding of life”

We have all received these teaching before in various forms using different verbiage.  Some examples are.

climate change

1.     You can not solve a problem at the same level as the problem.  Meaning if you are caught in the center with the presenting issues you are not moving into a more spiritual or aware mindset and you will stay caught in the problem.  (This is the subject that the spirits decided to teach at practicum).

2.     Life is about perception, and your perception will determine your attitude, your words, your thoughts, and your action.

3.     Change your perception and change your life.

The spirits highlighted a very hot topic to present these teaching at the practicum:  The topic of climate change.  At the very core or the center ring this topic is full of emotion, blame, and cause. We have the villains of the issue: fossil fuel emissions, deforestation, and the build up of greenhouse gases.  We become emotional with the news or experience of forest fires, drought, polar ice melting, the loss of species, catastrophic weather patters, or earthquakes.  We might become angry with politicians and their lack of attention or the greed of big business and oil companies.  Feelings of helplessness overwhelm, anger, disgust, or rage can be the result.  All of these emotions keep attention on the problem fueled with low frequency energies, which through the creation laws keep us captive to the problem with no escape and creating more of the problem.

As the spirits continued with their teaching moving into greater awareness of the issue they highlighted certain spiritual facts.

1.     There is a bigger reason for all events.

2.     The spirits love us and work with us with our prayers and desires.

3.     The universe is on our side, working for us not against us.

4.     Love prevails and is the strongest creative force in the universe.

5.     All things are created from love but it might take great exploration to find.

I for one have been praying for global peace, unity, harmony, balance, and well being for years.  It is a constant prayer of mine.  I believe that most of my readers would agree with this prayer and they too speak something similar.  So how can the world look so dismal and disjointed?  The spirits had me move away from the core of the issue of climate change and look at a bigger picture.  That possibly climate change is part of an answered prayer, that the earth is responding to us in a way that can be helpful.  What is a bigger perspective that is actually happening?

For the first time in history countries, nations, big business, clergy, lay people, scientists are actually coming together having conversations working in collaboration and in unity.  Politicians have to address issues and changes are finally happening that have the earth as the center point for wellness.  Alliances, teamwork, and relationships are being established.  Even the Pope is highlighting this to the peoples of the church.   In the bigger picture cosmic forces have come together to help us wake up and possibly achieve the peace, unity, harmony, balance and well being that we have prayed about.  Climate change is bringing people together. It is a catalyst of transformation.

So each one of us has to imagine Climate change being a gift instead of a problem and this changed perception will change the energy of it.  The changed perception puts energies into motion. Hold this intention in your heart.  We are creator beings and where we put our energy will manifest. The nature spirits say we love you more than you can ever imagine.

Another layer is to realize that so much of our belief of human existence is that humanity is destructive which goes back to the belief of original sin. We believe ourselves to be destructive so we consistently create that belief.   This has become cellular in many. We need to challenge this belief and change the core beliefs at a genetic level.

If we believe that we are gift and love ourselves as a species on earth we can make the difference and create that change.

We strive for a generational shift from the older generations, which are littered with guilt that humans are in charge of creating the damage on earth.  Look closely at the younger generation who have come in not to harbor this guilt and just go straight into the healing of earth.  Every single person has the full ability to change the whole world single-handedly.

I loved a comment from one of my students, Judith Harrigan who stated. Another version of climate change is the climate of the mind. Moving from greed, self-indulgence, fear, lack of awareness, and obliviousness to one of love, collaboration, unity, and hope. An internal climate change of perception. Personal climate change is the change in the climate of thought and awareness.

The model of the concentric rings can be used personally, and collectively.  Explore your issues.  Where are you caught in the middle and then image, and explore vast possibilities.  Notice and watch what happens energetically inside of you as you do this.  The possibilities are endless; the feelings of wellness are the result.

Thought Forms: Basic Unraveling Method

Thought Forms – Basic Unraveling Method By Jan Engels-Smith

“In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision.”  ~The Dalai Lama

The results of our actions are a product of the mental orientations and attitudes that we create as we formulate intents, make decisions, and engage in the activities of our lives. We always act from a place of intention—whether positive or negative—and those intentions generate a field of energy that permeates its surroundings, influences adjacent and distant conditions, and perpetuates itself in infinite encounters. Our intentions create thought forms and we are responsible for them. Thought forms can be viewed as an overarching concept for many different matrices of energy across the wide spectrum of life.

We create thought forms from something as innocent as the planning of a wedding with all the associated intents, dreams, and hopes that we assign to the activity or as negative as thoughts of envy, resentment, or callousness. We may create thought forms from acts of aggression and destructive behavior in times that we might be angry or frustrated. Life is filled with events that people often view as independent of their influence, but the energies they project on to those events create a field of effect and are stamped with our signature. No matter what the topic, if a person is investing time, words, or emotions into a situation or circumstance there is a thought form being created that holds all of the energy that the individual has generated and that energy lingers perpetually among the matrices of others’ thought forms energetically tying us together in the thought form.

In shamanic healing, I have seen many individuals who suffer from problems that they have assumed were only products of outside forces and over which they had little control. Outside forces can and do impact us all, but we either compound or ameliorate these forces by the thoughts that we create in reaction. The process of dealing with the creation of our thought forms I directly relate to the fields of energy that exist throughout space and time. What is initiated persists and what is added to grows in influence and effect. Developing a consciousness of the nature of our thoughts and especially their impact on others and ourselves is fundamental to becoming a well being and healing both physically and spiritually.

Many times our own feelings of loss, helplessness, and pain may be compounded by projections from others, either intentionally or by happenstance. Serious forms of negative energy, which can cause illness or disease, may be the results of others’ negative thought forms. Curses, spells, and projected hatred, jealousy or fear create thought forms of energy that must be addressed if one is to feel well and happy. The Inquisition, which I referenced in my last article, is a good example of how extreme negative thought forms might create a devastating field of energy that persists beyond its historical context.

Whether of minor consequence to the individual or of historical proportion, negative thought forms can be addressed through the process of unraveling. Unraveling involves the peeling back of the external appearance of a condition to discover the core of the circumstance that is the true cause of the suffering or anguish that one might feel. Let me use an example to illustrate the process. Let us suppose that an individual was raised in a strongly religious home where beliefs were rigidly defined for all members of the family and the expectation of behavior was considered as inflexible and necessary. And suppose that this individual had acquired a different set of personal beliefs that conflicted with the family tradition. The individual might feel many emotions in the aftermath of the discovery of his new belief system and after his family has expressed their concern with his straying from their prescribed principles. Feelings of fear, anger, resentment, depression, guilt, and anxiety may intermingle in the thoughts of one moving away from a life well defined to a life with a new definition. Such emotions might easily create a condition that negatively affects the individual’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. In shamanic healing, the unraveling process allows for the discovery of energy dynamics that are created by different thought forms and allows for the root causes to be addressed in a positive and productive way. The first question to be asked is: “What are the fields of energy that are in play in the circumstance?” In this example, the individual who has left the church feels put upon by the other members of his family. He might have the impression that a curse or spell has been cast through their prayers and entreaties. He can palpably feel the energy emanating from others and he might perceive it as having a negative effect on his being—even to the point of physical illness. On the other hand, the members of the family who are praying for the soul of the individual, who has “strayed from the one true way,” may well have acted with all the best intentions and in the belief that what they were doing was necessary to express their love for their “lost” relative and to save him from himself. When these opposing forces are unraveled, the individual can better understand that his fear and guilt and anxiety are contributing to the power of the energy field that is oppressing him. When he comes to understand the motives of his family and recognizes that he has a choice in choosing the thoughts that express his free will and that focus away from the perception that he is under attack, he is able then to create new thought forms of confidence in his choice, a newfound strength in his self esteem, and an appreciation for the positive intentions of his family. He need not change his decision to defy the traditional beliefs of his family but he can create the positive thought forms that emphasize the self-love that allows him to function effectively and productively in his newfound freedom.

Thought forms take many identities and emanate from many sources. They are not necessarily negative. Desires, goals, visualizations, dreams, oaths, vows, promises, declarations, contracts, or enchantments are all ways of creating though words and thoughts and contribute to the creation of fields of energy or add to existing fields.

In all cases your thoughts and your emotions carry your divine essence or your signature. Once your essence is caught in a thought form it is unavailable to you. This can have a compounding affect whereas our essence is part of our vitality. Thus unraveling thought forms is a way to release your divine essence and have it return to you.

A good question to ask may be, “Where I have invested much of my thoughts and emotions?” Scan your life. Were you invested in a marriage that doesn’t exist anymore? Were you an advocate for an issue that is now closed? Have you ever been involved in a law case? Again, where have you invested enormous amounts of thought and emotion? Chances are that all that invested energy is still caught in that situation. The unraveling process releases that energy back to you.

A shaman knows how to unravel energy or thought forms while in a journey; however, you too can be very successful in unraveling using this simple prayer. In the blank, insert the name of the circumstance you are addressing.

Thank you great ones that love me and are compassionate to my needs. Please reach into the thoughtform of (BLANK) and pull my energy signature out. Let this energy be cleansed. Transmute it to divine love and return it to me. Let it then fuel any new desires that I may have.

This simple yet powerful intention will dismantle or unravel thought forms that hold your focus and emotions. The return of this energy in its divine form can feel tremendously revitalizing and fortifying.

The Words Before All Else

The Words Before All Else: A Thanksgiving Address

The Words Before All Else

In honor of a LightSong tradition I offer this article again. Reprinted by popular demand!

I feel that instead of celebrating a day of Thanksgiving in the month of November, we should celebrate the month of November dedicated to Thanksgiving. Some indigenous elders feel that the reason that our life on this planet is so out of balance is because we only ask and don’t say “thank you” enough.  I share with you a prayer: A prayer of saying Thank You: A prayer of Thanksgiving.

The style of this prayer originated with the Iroquois people. It came to me via an Iroquois elder, Jake Swamp, who passed it on to a wilderness school, Jon Young, where Deb Scrivens, an associate teacher with LightSong, learned it and shared it with me. At each stage it was modified and personalized. I have had a tremendous response from its energy. People have used it and revised it for their own use. It can be used for prayer each day or around the thanksgiving table.

The purpose of this prayer is to remember that we are all divinely connected to all things. We share the same planet and universe. What one does – affects us all.

I invite you to pray like this, it has an amazing affect on your heart; it is full of reverence, gratitude and appreciation. It heals through the power and energy of the words and how they in themselves affect the body, mind and soul.

The format of this style of prayer is: Starting with self – and then reaching out around self – and out into the universe.

You can devise your own prayer, if you like, using this style, personalizing it to include your own family, friends, teachers, coworkers, and environment: Actually inserting names into the sentences. Use your imagination.

*******

I start with myself and extend out into the world that surrounds me. I give great thanks for my health, my wellness and ability to greet each day with a smile and open heart. I give great thanks that I see well, feel well and can start each day by giving thanks. I give great thanks that I love what I do for a living and I have the opportunity to make a difference each day in someone’s life. I give great thanks that I smile more than I frown and laugh more than I cry.

I give great thanks for all of my students, community; you, for your willingness to learn, to grow, to participate, and to challenge yourselves. It is because of you that I get to live in “my original instruction, my song.” I learn from you and you amaze me daily. I give great thanks that you want to help people to heal, to have less pain, to have better lives and more happiness. You are amazing people that I will love, respect, and remember always.

I give great thanks to my teachers. Because of them my life is forever changed and enriched. I owe everything to these incredible seekers. I give respect, admiration, and heartfelt gratitude.

I send a greeting and give thanks for all the people in my life. I extend out away from me and my immediate loved ones and I look to this beautiful earth that I have the privilege to experience.

****** Deb Scrivens is the author of this version:

I greet and send thanksgivings to my Mother the Earth, who has not forgotten her original instructions since the beginning of time. She has given of her life so that I may exist. She gives me all that I need. All that I have, have had, or will have has come from her. With the sun and the water she supports all life. My bones are made of her bones, from the minerals that come from her, and my flesh comes from her. She supports me in every step. She supported me before I could walk, when I crawled upon her. She will hold and cradle me inside of her when I walk no more. I marvel in her beauty, I marvel in her diversity, I marvel in her power. I strive to understand something so magnificent, so complex, and so forgiving. I respect her and wish to acknowledge her throughout every moment. Without her I would not be. So I give thanks for my Mother the Earth, and I express my love and gratitude for her.

******

I send thanksgivings and greetings to the Waters of the Earth, and all those beings that dwell in the Water, for they too have not forgotten their original instructions from the creator of all life. For all these waters remember their cycles and give continuously to us all. The rain that falls is recycled from sweat and tears, baptisms and swimming pools linking us all into the magical wonder of the water cycle. No life can exist without water, and our planet is a water planet. Our bodies are made mostly of water. So I send thanks to all the forms of water on the planet: from the polar ice caps to the frozen glaciers to the cold rushing mountain streams. From the peaceful lakes to the estuaries and bays to the pounding seashore with its mighty surf and tides. I send thanksgiving greetings to the great oceans that blanket our planet, to the deepest abyss of the oceans, and the mysterious chasms where dwell undiscovered forms of life.

And I give thanks for all the living things that dwell in the Waters, in their great variety of color and form, from the caddis fly in the mountain stream to the great whales in the sea. I call to mind the myriad of creatures that live in the water and that provide me with beauty and wonder at the world; the starfish and the salmon, the seals and the tropical fishes, the coral reefs. I give great thanks to the Waters of the world for supporting all life and to the great variety of life in the Waters, and for all that it means to me. I give thanks for the dolphins that greeted me in the open seas off the coast of Belize. The experience of sonar pulsing through me taught me so much of these great ones that live in the water. I am thankful that my son was able to reach out and touch one of these magnificent creatures and was able to participate in this awesome event. I am thankful for that special and personal experience.

*****

And now I turn my thoughts to the low growing things and the plants that blanket the Earth, and the small forms of life that creeps and crawls in and under the plants. I send greetings and thanksgiving to all the small living things that help plants grow, and refresh and recycle the Earth. Frogs, snakes, ants, worms, beetles and honeybees; each have remembered its original instructions since the beginning of time.

And I give thanks for the Plants. In its great variety of color and form, the Plant Nation provides us with beauty and food and medicine and shelter and clothing, and with air to breathe. I give thanks for the tall grasses that blow in the wind and give us grain; I give thanks for the grass that gently covers the graves of our dead and rolls in luscious landscapes on the sides of hills. I give thanks for the berries and the many plants that provide us with food. I give thanks for the medicine plants, the herbs and for the healing that they provide. For they too have not forgotten their original instructions for there are many members of this incredible Nation that sustain those who walk upon this Earth and there are many others who continue to fulfill their duties to take away the sicknesses of the human family. I give thanks to the plants that hold the Earth in place and keep the Waters clean and clear, so that the living things in the Waters may thrive.

******

And now I lift my eyes a little higher and notice the four-legged ones that move among the plants, and I send a thanksgiving greeting to the Animal Nation. I send a greeting to the Animals, in their great variety of color and form, and I call to mind the elephant and the horse, the wolf and the great cats of Africa, the buffalo, tiger, deer, raccoon and the red fox.

I send thanks to the Animals for they provide us with so much. They give themselves to us for food and clothing. They lend us their power. In their grace and beauty and naturalness, they teach us by example. They are our older brothers and sisters, and we can learn everything we need to know by observing them. The tracks they leave on the ground disappear into the forest, and our minds turn to their hidden and mysterious lives.

Our hearts draw close to them as we think of the animals that live in our homes and share our lives, and of the love that they give to us so freely.

I say a special prayer for all the animals that are lost or lonely or cold or frightened or injured, and for any that suffer abuse at the hands of people. To these I send my heartfelt love and compassion and I am thankful that they have never turned against us. For without the Animals, we would experience a great loneliness of spirit. For their love and companionship and for all that they give us, I send thanks and greetings to the Animals.

******

Lifting my eyes higher still, I see green leaves against blue sky, and boughs waving in the wind. I send my thanksgiving greetings to the Standing (Tree) People. Their roots go into the Earth beneath us, their branches stretch into the sky above us. Connecting Earth and Sky, they are our older brothers and sisters and our teachers.

Some of them are very, very old, and they remember and remind us of the ages of the Earth. In their rings they record the coming of the flood and the drought. Many tribes of trees around the world make the mighty forests, and they carpet the earth with their canopies. The forests of trees give the plants and animals shelter and homes. The trees give the birds a place to rest their feet and to raise their young.

The trees also shelter us and keep us warm. We need look no farther than the walls of our houses to understand what the trees give to us, for they give their bones to make our homes, and to make the fire in our hearths. They give us food and fruit and shade on a hot day, and beauty and comfort and air, and the gentle sound of leaves rustling in a soft wind. And so we give heartfelt thanks and send greetings to the Trees.

I give thanks to those that protect the trees, the lungs of our Earth. I give thanks to those in South America that strive and fight for the rain forests. If the rain forests die so shall we.

******

High in the trees, I hear music; the gentle sound of silvery bells in the branches, and from the river comes the sound of a silver flute. The sounds come from the throats of the birds, and I lift my eyes to the skies and see Winged Ones and I hear them singing. In their great variety of color and form, the Bird Nation brings great beauty to the world, and the wonder of flight. It is said the birds were put on Earth to lighten the hearts of the people and lift them from their heavy thoughts, and every time we lift our eyes and listen to the thanksgiving song of a bird, this is so.

There is a line on the Earth, where the darkness meets the light, a line we call Dawn. At this line the birds sing together in a chorus of thanksgiving, and this line of song travels around the Earth. So always, somewhere, the thanksgiving song of the birds radiates from the Earth into outer space, all the time. For dawn is always happening somewhere.

I give thanks that the birds greet the Sun with song. I give thanks for the raucous call of the jay and the raven and the piercing call of the eagle and the hawk, and for the lovely songs of the thrush and the lark and the wren. I give thanks for the mysterious sounds of the owl at night. I give thanks and send greetings to the birds.

******

Under the wings of the birds flow the Winds, and now I turn my mind to the Four Winds that blow from each direction and carry the rain to the Earth. I send a thanksgiving greeting to the Winds, for they cleanse the Earth and carry the Weather Spirits and the Thunderbeings upon their backs. I send a thanksgiving greeting to the Thunderbeings, who harness the mighty power of the storm. The Thunderbeings have the power to teach humility to every single person on the earth, as we witness the magnificent and awesome power of the mighty storms. And so I send my humble thanksgiving and greetings to the Four Winds and to the Thunderbeings: those that give life and also take it away.

*******

Turning my face higher still, I see a silver face looking back at me from above, and I recognize my Grandmother the Moon. I send greetings and give thanks to my Grandmother the Moon, for she holds hands with all the women of the Earth. She tugs on the seeds and she tugs on the tides and she tugs on the rhythms in our bodies. Perhaps we learned to count beyond the number of our fingers and our toes, long ago when our species was young, by sitting at her knee and noticing her changes. She gives us silver light at night that helps us to see in a special way and she bathes the world in silver light and makes it beautiful. And so I send greetings and thanks to my Grandmother the Moon and that she too has not forgotten her original instructions.

*******

And now I turn my mind to our oldest brother the Sun. The Sun. Our star. He provides all of the warmth and energy for our life. The Sun is the great engine that powers all of the life on our planet. We shut our eyes and turn our faces to the warm, golden light of the sun, and feel his warm kiss on our cheek. We exist in a narrow band of temperatures, and the sun provides for us perfectly, not too hot and not too cold. With a single flare or shift the sun could extinguish all life on Earth or freeze it into solid stillness, but that has never happened, and we are perfectly provided for with just the right amount of warmth. For endless ages the Earth has danced with the Sun, and he holds her in a warm and perfect embrace. And so I give great thanks to our Eldest Brother the Sun, for him remembering his original instruction and for the life he provides for us.

Turning my attention beyond the sun, I see many suns, millions and billions of stars, and I send a greeting and thanks to the Star Nation. The galaxies stretch the limits of the human imagination, for they are unimaginably old. The matter that is in our bodies may once have been in a star that burned out long ago and changed form, as the universe endlessly cycled. And so we wonder at our kinship with the stars…we are stardust walking. We look at the stars in great wonder. And we give great thanks for the beauty of the night sky.

*******

And now I turn my attention to the Unseen, to the Spirits of the Four Directions, and the many spirits that protect us and guide our steps and help us in our lives. It is said we each have 405 loving spirits surrounding us at any moment. We acknowledge that we cannot survive without their loving protection. They guide us and we feel them in many ways. They whisper into the ears of our heart, and they show the eyes of our heart things of great beauty. They guide our steps so that we do not stumble. We are thankful for their protection and guidance and compassion. We are thankful that they love and care for us. And so we express our heartfelt gratitude to the spirits, and for the Wakan (sacred) in our lives.

*******

Finally I turn my mind to that which is beyond the human imagination, the Creator of All Things, which existed before time began and which will exist beyond the end of Time. I turn my mind toward the Mysterious Force that we cannot understand or imagine… The God, Great Spirit, Great Mystery, the Alpha and the Omega, Essence, Source, Word. We can only turn our faces toward this Light and say Thank You. Thank you giving us all that we need. Thank you for our lives. Thank You for This Life. Thank You.

******

And now, keeping my heart in touch with the Infinite and at the same time pulling my attention into the center of my heart, I look forward into the Future and I look over my shoulder back into the Past. And stretching seven generations forward I see the descendents of the human race, and stretching seven generations into the past I see our ancestors. And our ancestors still care for us and our descendents depend on us. They depend on us to keep them in mind when we make choices at this moment in time, the Perfect Present, for they are coming, and they will depend on what we do Now. And our hearts are connected to the hearts of our children and their descendents, forward into the future, and connected to the hearts of our ancestors, backward into the past, an unbroken chain of humanity, connecting like a thread, heart to heart to heart to heart…. And so I send a greeting and a prayer of thanks to the unbroken chain of the human race.

******

It has been my intention to greet and send thanks to Everything, but I am a two-legged learning to be a Human Being, and so it is not possible for my mind to know of or remember Everything. So now I send a greeting and thanks to everything that I have left out, and ask you to please remember that I did not leave you out intentionally. I have done my humble best to bring my mind together with All Things, and now my mind is One. Mitakuye Oyasin. (All my relations, I am related to all things.)

I ask myself have I forgotten my original instructions? In truth yes, for I am human and I struggle with ego and mind, but when I let myself be lead by my heart into the area of thanksgiving, (reverence, gratitude, appreciation) and pure joy, I feel that I am closer to my original instruction. (Deb)

I give thanks to you, my dearests of relationship, for you have touched my life, you have a cord to my heart and soul. Since we have met our souls will remember each other through lifetime and lifetime. The meeting of souls is a sacred thing, for all is in divine order. I give great thanks for our meeting and our continued exchange. Smile and have great joy during this Thanksgiving season and always.

With great thankfulness, appreciation and love,

Jan Engels-Smith

Invocation and Intention in Shamanism and Energy Medicine

The Use of Invocation and Intention in Shamanism and Energy Medicine

Invocation and Intention in Shamanism and Energy Medicine

The reason for an invocation is to inform yourself and the spirit world, to a lesser extent, that you are beginning a process of connecting with them. Intentionally you are invoking particular compassionate helping spirits to assist you in making this connection. Be very clear about whom you are calling in to your experience always intending the spirits to be compassionate and healing. Set boundaries to prevent lower frequency vibrations from emerging and focus on beseeching your protecting spirits. I solicit deities from many different traditions and cultures such as Egyptian goddesses, Hindu protectors and the Archangels. I tend to be very eclectic in my spirit approach and do not adhere to a particular cultural form. For me energy medicine is universal and unlimited by rigid practices. I request the spirits to enter my space as well as my person and I only let in energies as great as self or greater; so, I am automatically protected from lower frequency or negative energies by stating that intention. Whenever I am involved in ceremony, or when I am performing healing ceremonies, I always call in protecting spirits. Be responsible for yourself in any ceremony or any time that you create contact with other realms, call in your own protecting spirits and your own allies. Always take care of yourself. Stating a clear intention will create safety. Trust the process.

At the end of the invocation I declare an intention for the purpose of the invocation. This practice is based on the fact that energy follows intention. I believe that intention forms an experience. If you could develop a habit of declaring an intention when you get in the car, when you go to the grocery store, or when you pick up the phone, you will be amazed at how this deliberate act will alter the situation in a positive way. Consciously create through intention instead of leaving outcome to randomness. Intention generates an energy and that energy creates an outcome. In a shamanic journey be very clear about what you are asking of the spirits. The clarity of your intention will influence your entire journey and how clear the response from the spirits will be. You can use clear intentions in every aspect of your life and actively create the results that you desire. Experiment with this information. Intend that you have a good experience when you are driving your car, intend to be on time, intend to enjoy the company of a stranger, or intend contentment in your work. You will be amazed how circumstances will alter to manifest your intention. These truths we learn in studying shamanism and energy medicine, however it may be something that you expand upon and apply to your everyday life.

Remember you are a creative energy being. Energy is always in motion and you are always broadcasting something from your person. The intentions that emanate from you and that are declared in these invocations will put frequencies of energy in motion and influence all that you come in contact with.

An example of an Invocation:

~~~
In this moment in time, let me lift my vibration above the density of the earth to the area of purity. Of pure light, pure truth, pure beauty, pure love, pure wholeness. . . .
I send a strong voice and I stand in gratitude, awe, appreciation and give thanks in advance for those divine beings that have come. I ask to lift my vibrations above the densities of the earth. Those densities being the things that weigh me down—doubt, fears, disbelief, problems, wounds, heartaches, body aches. The things that can pull me down out of the divine and make me feel like I am less than. I ask to lift myself above these things into places of purity—of pure light and of pure love, of pure truth and of pure beauty, of pure healing and pure wholeness, and of the pure feeling of this divine connection with spirit.  I call forth and invite the divine to be present. Opening the blessing fields allowing the universal life force energy to flow down into this room, into me, and into the space between the space, so that everything is connected. I invite Mother-Father-God, I invite the Great Mystery, I invite the power of Reiki, bringing in the sacred symbols and having them activated in the room. I invite the Angels, the Archangels, the Guardian Angels, the Light Beings, the healing Angels. And I give great thanks for the diligence you have had with the human race. And I ask you to come in strongly, to intervene in ways I do not even know I need help. You offer a divine message that I am open to. I invite the elements air, water, fire, earth, and sacred space. I have reverence, for it is you that have given all life, form and matter—without you here I would not exist. I invite the protecting spirits to stand guard at the four corners of the room and all around me only allowing in energies as great as self or greater.  I invite the teachers, animal allies and any of the other allies and light beings waiting to make this connection with me. I am excited to connect with you. I invite the spirits of the room, the land. I give thanks in advance for the great healings that will take place while I interact with you and the connections that will take place and the transformation and change that will be the result. I thank you for your beautiful response to this request. I invite all those compassionate healing spirits that are unnamed and unknown that are here to guide me, the teachers that want me to learn these ways. They have tapped me on the shoulder, the ancestors that have gone before me, and the descendants that will go after me. And I ask the ascendeddescendants of the New Earth to teach me how to be, because it is the choices and decisions I make today that will determine who is created in the future, and how it will be. So I ask the ascended descendants of the New Earth to come here. They are coming from a world of light, of love, of peace. And I call my True Self, an unwounded and unwoundable version of me. And with all of this, I set my intention. My intention is … (this is filled in with the intention of the journey, or the intention of the day, etc.) That I feel connected and loved. That community is established between the worlds and that there is sharing of the heart and opening of the heart, the language of the heart is spoken. And so we stand together believing and loving. I thank you Great Spirit, thank you Blessed Ones. Ahomitakuye oyasin.
~~~

This example is available for you to use. The example includes references to personal spirits that I work with—you can put in your own. I want to draw attention to the statement I include in every invocation. I have used these words since 1993, and I still bask in teachings from the spirits pertaining to them. I am referring to:

In this moment in time, let me lift my vibration above the density of the earth to the area of purity. Of pure light, pure truth, pure beauty, pure love, pure wholeness. . . .

The spirits have been explaining to me that in order to move into the place of the higher vibrations, we have to energetically move out of the thoughts that weigh us down, the densities —the words, the negativity, the hardship, the worries, all those vibrations that weigh on us all. With this invocation the vibrations elevate into higher levels eliminating the heavy, dense, lower frequency energies weighing on you. I was using the statement before I really understood its significance.

In my invocation, I am of course calling to my spiritual allies; I am voicing who I want present—my spiritual teachers, guides, enlightened ones, light beings, Reiki masters, symbols, archangels. Sometimes I name them, and sometimes I do not. You can invoke anybody that you like to work with—particular saints or Tibetan deities or other spiritual helpers. I frequently address the ancestors and the descendants. The descendants are the people who will live after us. They do not have to be your direct descendants, just the ones that come after us. We can call the descendants here, just like we can call the ancestors here. Just because they have not been born yet, does not mean they cannot energetically appear. In shamanism we do not view time as linear; all dimensions are happening simultaneously. I like to call the descendants that are living in peace and harmony, The New Earth. Because those are the conditions I want to consciously create. Always call in any protection you desire.

The word I end my invocation with, mitakuye oyasin, is a Lakota phrase that means, “All my relations.” It is loosely translated: We are related to everything. We are related to the trees, the earth, the dirt, the ants, the air and each other. The use of the phrase acknowledges that we are all related. We are all sisters and brothers. There is no difference in us in that way. We are all breathing the same air; we are all on the earth.  She is our home.

So, Where Do We Find the Spirits?

So, Where Do We Find the Spirits? by Jan Engels-Smith

Spirits are everywhere

Spirits are everywhere.

There are many different kinds of spirits, and they can take various forms. We can’t know who they all are, but there are certain beings that we want to work with in this study. Can you see them? No, because you see less than 1%. But it is still real. The bridge people have to cross in this work is created by the question, is it real?

Experience will help you cross this bridge to the side that says, yes, it is real. Things will start happening in your life to help show you that it is undoubtedly real. Your own personal journey through this work will help clarify that for you. I can’t tell you and have you automatically believe me. But if you follow these ways, you will definitely see it to be true.

Remembering that we “see” less than 1%…

If you can open your heart to the possibility of that realness, of their realness, just the intention of opening your heart to that capacity, that possibility, will help it manifest and unfold in your life. If you have the intention of “prove it,” that creates a very small window for them to work. You will always be trying to discount it and say, prove it again! They prove it and they show you, and you ask for another sign, and another sign, and forget in between about the miraculous things that are happening.

When we work with the spirits, we are getting a bigger picture than what we can understand on our own, in this realm. I asked the Spirits once, Why do we work with you? They said, “You may know where you are going, and may even be able to see the path, but we travel above the tree line and can see where the path goes.” They can direct you to places, decisions, and outcomes that you might not have access to yourself. You can journey to the future, and you can journey to the past and change what happened.

There is nothing outside the realm of possibility when you journey.

The Spirits also follow a universal law. Human beings have free will, or what is referred to as sacred choice. We are not a puppet of the universe; in fact, you are quite the opposite. You are a creator of the universe. If you don’t choose to employ or activate your spirit connection, it doesn’t happen; it is not forced upon you. I do believe that there is grace. I think that grace falls into people’s lives when they are in a very dangerous or difficult situation, and things just suddenly, miraculously change.

When you are trying to engage the spirit realm, or the non-physical beings, you begin with an intention. Then, they are right there.

We use different spirit helpers to do different things. Who are some of these spirit helpers and how do I learn how to dialogue and interact with them in a friendly, easy way? You can get guidance, be informed, and make a decision. You can ask anything you want and get information about it.

The shamanic journey is filled with mystery, and despite its ancient history, is little understood in Western culture.

The journey is one of the most effective ways to make contact with the spirits. The altered state of consciousness achieved in a journey allows you to transcend the limitations of the rational world and connect with a non-ordinary reality. The shamanic journey is common to all cultures and the nature of the journey is remarkably similar, even in cultures widely separated by era and geography. In the spirit world, both time and place are illusions. The lessons from the other worlds are universally true, drawing from a collective consciousness that is accessible to all.

Chakras and the Laws of Attraction

The Chakras and the Laws of Attraction by Jan Engels-Smith

“I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.”
From “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley

chakras

In the current state of spiritual awakening, we encounter a variety of approaches to achieving self-realization and empowerment. There seem to be many options and you may find yourself moving from one alternative to another and you may even feel a sense of incompleteness and fragmentation in your spiritual life. In the emerging age of new awareness, the one significant quality of transcendence is a new understanding of the wholeness of all things—the oneness of the universe. The fragmentation we feel in our spiritual practice is in conflict with this basic principle, but the sense of divisiveness is the fault of our thinking, not the condition that actually exists.

I have found that shamanism offers a unifying approach that encompasses all of the various practices in its understanding that all of the universe is one entity and that our outdated mechanistic view of fragmented parts is an artificial construct developed in humankind’s effort to control his universe rather than to become a part of it. An example of this unity can be found in two seemingly disparate concepts—one from ancient times (The Chakras) and another that has received much current attention (The Laws of Attraction). It is important to understand that they are one and the same because each principle enhances the other when we practice them in harmony.

The Laws of Attraction are based on an understanding of the fields of energy that exist in and around us and offer us the opportunity to influence these fields by the attitudes and intentions that we choose. Positive thoughts attract positive energies and create realizable affirmations that enrich our lives and promote constructive changes. In the same manner, negative thoughts attract negative energies and prevent us from achieving the better opportunities that we seek. Constant attention to seeking benevolent outcomes rewards us with wonderful and munificent gifts, often beyond our greatest wishes. The Laws of Attraction make us aware that we are the masters of our fate and the determiners of our future wellbeing.

The chakras are also concerned with energy fields and are the centers of our life force in association with vital points in the physical body. Energy flows through seven centers of our body and provides healing and balance to our systems. If the chakras are blocked, one may experience illness, weakness, and disequilibrium in one’s spiritual, physical, and emotional states.  Focusing on positive flows of energy through the Laws of Attraction can serve to open the chakras and promote good health, security, and happiness.  It bodes well for us to understand these two energy principles and to consciously exercise our bodies, minds, and spirits to attain the advantages of the wonderful energies that the universe puts at our disposal.

Each of the seven main chakras in the body has a different function in the manifestation of your reality. In their ideal state, the chakras pulse out energy that is healthy and supportive to the wellbeing of an individual. The chakras can move from an ideal state (which you are born into) to a more contaminated state throughout life. This contamination comes from life experiences and the attachments to wounds. Understanding this negatively altered condition is also the beginning of healing. First, we must understand the meaning of the individual chakras in their ideal state.

Many times the chakras close down and become contaminated with beliefs that are incongruent with their ideal state and these are felt as blocks or constrictions in the energy system. For example, if you felt as a young child that you weren’t safe, you weren’t secure, and that you didn’t have a purpose because you were unworthy, that would be pulsed out of your root chakra. This energy then becomes part of your subtle body fields or auric fields of energy and becomes part of your broadcast energy. You then would start manifesting a reality that would support this broadcast, bringing incidences and experiences to you that would prove you aren’t safe or that you are unworthy to be safe. This thinking and believing pattern sets up a cycle, which creates a reality that you come to accept and use as a motivation for your actions and decisions.

The chakras are the engines of our energy broadcasts. Conforming to the Laws of Attraction, the chakras vibrate outward, engage with like energies, and draw back into our beings the energies that match our intentions. The art of healing oneself is fundamentally grounded in the understanding of our fields of energy, in the choices we make, in the intentions that we establish, and in the energies that we broadcast into our environment.
